Rev. Dr. Ben Huelskamp

Rev. Dr. Ben Huelskamp (he/they) is the Executive Director of LOVEboldly. He is a pastor, author, activist, public intellectual, and a lifelong church geek. He earned a BA in philosophy, a MEd in higher education and student affairs, and an EdD in leadership with a focus on religion and ministry. He wrote his dissertation on the leadership of LGBTQIA+ people in the church. Ben also completed theological studies at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO). He is a voracious reader, avid Star Trek nerd, and an alumnus member of Phi Mu Delta fraternity. If he ever got a tattoo, it would be of the Oxford Comma.

Ordained in The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries, Ben serves as the pastor of Blue Ocean Faith Columbus, a small affirming congregation. He also serves of the boards of The Buckeye Flame and Faith Choice Ohio and on the steering committee of the Columbus and Central Ohio LGBTQ+ Leadership Roundtable. In his "free time," Ben enjoys spending time with friends and family, particularly his nephews, Jack and Henry, and his chihuahua-mix puppy, Scout.

Ben's writing has been published in Waging Nonviolence, Baptist News Global, The Good Men Project, The Buckeye Flame, The Columbus Dispatch, and Red Letter Christians (among others). Following from LOVEboldly's successful symposium, Ben is writing a book on LGBTQIA+ death and dying.
